That's "Merry Christmas" for all you colonists!! The kids are counting down the days steadily, but we're still taking in every ounce of German Christmas we can. The Christmas Markets are incredible! They're open 7 days a week - hard to imagine that here in Deutschland. You can shop in a different village every day of the week & never get tired. The food, drinks, all the entertainment for the kids, live plays, musicals, on and on and on!! It never stops.
Tonight happens to be the big St. Niklaus visit. Emma & Ross have each left their boot outside the front door, along with a snack for Niklaus' faithful horse. Hopefully St. Niklaus will stop by our house & leave treats - but only if he thinks the children have been good enough. Small things like fruit, candies, nuts, etc generally fill the boots that have been polished clean to please the Saint (yeah, right).
Also posted a pic from Thanksgiving. Yes, we managed to have all the traditional things - including a dry-to-the-bone turkey from yours truly. Hey, at least I tried. Several American friends and co-workers joined us for the day. That's Tony cutting/sawing up my turkey. Much to my delight, the only juicy thing he found was the bag of giblets. Guess I should check the front-end of the turkey next year. Why they put it there is beyond me. I searched the inside with a flashlight just to make sure I didn't miss anything - but never thought about under the skin in the front!
Anyway, only 19 more days till these Displaced Texans return for warm weather & spicy food!!

2 years ago i was basting the turkey and noticed the giblet bag hanging out---luckily only 2 hours into cooking but oh my...a giblet bag was almost served with my turkey too!
seriously has the turkey not gone through enough but on top of it all to be forced through further indignity as a plastic bag of giblets is stuffed down it's neck! hee hee
